I am Farshad Akbari.

My practice moves between sound, image, and material without separating them into fixed disciplines. These forms appear as different expressions of a continuous field of perception, where making and observing are not distinct acts but part of the same unfolding attention.

Rather than working toward fixed outcomes, I engage with processes in which attention, gesture, and material continuously reshape one another. What is usually called “work” appears as a temporary formation within this ongoing field.

I am drawn to how perception reorganizes itself over time — through repetition, listening, drawing, and constructing — where control slowly dissolves into a more open condition of becoming.

In this sense, I do not stand outside what I make. I am within the same process in which the work takes form.

Farshad Akbari is a multidisciplinary artist working across sound, painting, moving image, and sculptural practices. His work approaches perception as a continuous field in which material, gesture, and awareness are constantly in relation, rather than separate domains.

His practice grows through repetition, attention, and embodied engagement with material processes. Works are not treated as isolated objects, but as evolving formations in which form appears through sustained interaction with time, body, and material conditions.

Rather than defining clear boundaries between disciplines, his work follows a logic of unfolding, where listening, making, and observing become interconnected modes of experience.

Akbari works across experimental music, contemporary visual art, and process-based practices. These projects often extend over time, unfolding as slow transformations rather than fixed outcomes.

He lives and works between sound-based and visual practices, developing long-term works that remain open, shifting, and in continuous relation with perception and material.
